If you’re on the fence about buying a digital in-car camera or video recorder for your car, think no further and do it. This is the one best piece of advice that we can give to you. After plunking down a large wade of cash for that latest car purchase, the last thing you’d want is to spend more money fixing it should an accident occur.

Automotive insurance is required in almost every state in the US and most countries around the world. However, what most people don’t think about is that your insurance policy does not necessarily cover you in the event of an accident! Most insurers would try and twist their way out of paying for damages by citing inproper handling of the vehicle, driving under the influence, or simply because there is not enough evidence for you to fight your case against them!

Accidents happen each and every single day. Are you waiting until it happens to you before purchase a permanent "eye-witness" for your car?

Instead of paying hundreds of dollars with no guaruntee of insurance cover, the best thing to do for any driver would be to purchase an in-car camera as a permanent “eye-witness” for you when you’re on the road.

Case in point, take this example of an e-mail that we received recently from one of our readers asking for some advice regarding an accident.

I was stucked in traffic today on the way to work and was stationary with a Toyota right in front of me. Suddenly, the driver engaged his reverse gear & drove straight into my car.

I got out of car and the other party had 6 young fellows in their group.

I asked for the driver for his particiulars and how they are going to compensate me for the accident and they started becoming hostile. They argued that I failed to keep 1 car length distance and no one could prove that i wasn’t that one that drove into them and insisted that i pay for their damages instead.

One of them insist that I pay them $1,000 for this accident.

When they realized that i wasn’t going to pay them, they got in their car and drove away.

My front grill dented and the bumper is scratched up and misaligned.

Any advise on what I can do?

The above is a very fine example of WHY YOU NEED AN IN-CAR CAMERA. It is exactly for situations like this! In this case, and most cases of car accidents, there are very little witnesses around and it would be hard for anyone to fight their case even if they were evidently not in the wrong. In most cities around the world, when the fault cannot be proven to be from either parties, the driver of the car in the back must bear the brunt of the insurance claims. What if the actual situation was caused by the car in front? Sadly, there is no law to protect the innocent party in this case without any evidence.

If this reader had an in-car camera installed in his vehicle, he would have saved thousand of dollars in repair bills and insurance claims as he would have the video recording of this accident to prove his side of the story. Plenty of accidents happen on the roads each and every day. Are you going to wait until one happens to you before purchasing an in-car camera?

Let us know what you would do in the comments below if you were the on involved in the above-mentioned accident. We’d love to hear your thoughts!
