In the past 2 years, in-car cameras, or DVRs (Digital Video Recorders) as most people know them by, are becoming increasing popular among drivers, commercial truckers, and even the local law enforcement agencies. There are several reasons behind this trend.

Technology has enabled companies to build smaller video recorders, and this has translated into better looking units which people do not mind having in their cars. Just 5 years ago, wanting to record a clear video meant lugging around huge camera equipments and limited the ability for people to record videos to a very small, professional pool or people.

For an in-car camera to be effective, it must also be able to record and save the video recording for future use (if required). Whereas hard-disk is the past were huge and heavy and only used in computers, the introduction of SD cards have enabled these cameras to save huge amounts of data (up to several tens of GBs) to a tiny card which could be inserted into the DVR.

The combination of all these technological factors have made the possibility, and usefulness, of having an in-car camera high plausible in today’s society.

Eye-Witness Evidence

With an ever-increasing number of vehicles on the road, the number of accidents have also been going up year after year. No matter how careful a driver is, accidents among motor vehicles are inevitable. What follows after an accident is almost always certainly a nasty legal tussle between insurance companies, the parties involved, and cost more time and money than anyone would want to spend.

Having an in-car camera in this case would actually be a huge advantage to anyone as the video evidence provided to the insurance companies and enforcement agencies would definitely speed up this process and at the same time, avoid unscrupulous drivers carrying out insurance scams by causing accidents on purpose.

With the above-mentioned reasons and being priced at a point whereby it is relatively inexpensive and easily for people to afford to protect their assets, we have no doubt that in the very near future, every car will come equipped with an in-car camera.
